ITIL V3 - A vision of IT as a service
In the early days of corporate IT, companies looked at what computers could do and decided whether or not they could make use of them. These days, companies look at what they want to do and see how technology can be used to facilitate it. In other words IT has changed from being, essentially, a product to becoming a service to corporate users. ITIL V3 helps to facilitate the integration of IT into the business as a whole by providing a set of guidelines as to how to ensure that IT Strategy is aligned with business needs rather than being driven purely by technology requirements.
